Hope_Something positive from Sonko's dumb idea
I am sorry if this rubs you off in a bad way but I think as much as de-congesting the city is a brilliant move, the execution was poorly done. Off all the decisions ever made by our leaders, this one gets the dumbest one award! Thankfully enough, I saw some color in the grayness...
Today I celebrate the blessing of being able to see color in the bleakness of the world. However in yesterdays case I struggled, however much I tried, I didn't see any good in the occurrences. I was angry, frustrated and pissed at the fact that one mans poor planning reduced us to a bunch of confused walking zombies (a bit exaggerated but that's how I felt)
Never the less, I saw a united Nairobi, there were no lines or demarcations in terms of tribe, social status, religion...just a people who felt cheated and betrayed.
I saw looks of despair and fatigue, but then again I saw the same faces light up in laughter when one person said something funny. The laughter gave me hope, an assurance that all will be well.
I talked to a dozen strangers who in normal circumstances I would never notice because we would be too engrossed with our gadgets or lost in thought with no common discussion to indulge in. From the talks I understood the struggle of people trying to make ends meet, I saw the resilience, the relentless spirit of the Kenyans... I felt human again! I also felt proud to belong, I felt proud because I saw a people refusing to give up, and my hope soared!
I saw the importance of leadership and its effect on not just people but the economy, and I learnt that it only takes one stupid decision to unleash hell!
Despite yesterdays challenges, I still see people up and early going about business as usual, yesterday forgotten as the city slips back to normalcy and I am reminded of Psalms 30:5. sorrow may last for a night but joy comes in the morning!
Thanks for stopping by.
Stay positive!
