INDISPENSABLE POET.

At last my final observation,
Is the weakness of my intonation.
The feel of isolation,
Takes away my motivation.

I have no room to do my presentation,
that I lose my inspiration.
My life is in a rotation,
that has no sensation…
…that’s a taste of the poems written by Cunningham Mbati, a poet with a unique way with words. His poems do not only intrigue the reader but also create a fantasy world where you just want to live in forever. Cunny has always been writing poems, but in 2006, in his second year of high school, that’s when poetry become both his passion and his way to express his thoughts about the talents in this country.
His first shairi –churupuka- entered the annual national competition, but he did not get the response he wanted. To improve, he got a book on poetry which helped sharpen his writing skills. By the time he was through with it he had written a much satisfactory poem, better than he had ever written. The feeling was great of course and that’s where his journey as a poet begun. Over 30 of his best poems can be traced and like I said, they are irresistible. He hopes to begin a talent scouting and exhibition in his hometown, Luanda, because he believes Kenya has so much untapped talent and of course charity begins at home.
